Aaron visited and snuck upstairs. He captured Butt-head putting the moves on Lisa Simpson.

Unstained wood courtsey of Dan Lopez and Virginia Design Builders. Contract called to move shelves; they threw them away. Then they sued us. Then we settled with a new contract, and they refused to stain any wood despite the fact that the original shelves were stained.

Butt-head toy, Lisa Simpson toy.
Beavis and Butt-head.

Filling in the pieces of my life

Filling in the pieces of my life, Finding the pieces of her life, My second grand daughter. My daughter lost her first child after a two year battle with a disease I cannot pronounce or spell, she was a perfect child until two and a half, then the nightmare began. A two year fight she did not win. Through it all, We baby sat for an equally beautiful and perfect child of a friend. Born to teenage parents the same day our battle began. She was bounced from parent to parent to grandparent and great grand parent and great-great-grandparent. Two things were stable in her life. Between each bounce she was with her great- great-grandmother and we were usually her babysitter. By two and half it was determined that none could care for her properly. They were going to put her up for adoption.
It had only been 4 months since our loss. The gggmother, a friend of mine, knew of our loss and hesitated to suggest that we consider a permanent arrangement. Our wounds were still fresh. But this child was such a delight. I passed on the proposal to my daughter and her husband. We hadn’t seen her since our loss. She was being bounced around Kansas and Arkansas with her fathers family returning only a few weeks before. After thinking for twenty four hours, They decided to try a whole week as if she were theirs. During that week she was a different child than the one they remembered. She would not make eye contact, only allowed hugs, had no vocabulary, she sat shaking her hands or walking in circles, or stacking things, she can stack anything, only responding to cartoons or commercials. The equivalent of a six month old at 2 ½ and yet more. By the third day we knew she had a photographic memory but had trouble communicating. They asked for a second week, it couldn’t hurt her. She had learned to use thirty words in 5 days. Each one a battle. That 2nd week they got her in to their doctor. She was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder (dah) and Autism Aspbergers Syndrome. By then Their hearts had already committed. The papers were drawn and she was ours December 2006, just in time for Christmas. Her former life can visit her but she stays here, HOME. Its been three years, they don’t visit much anymore, none for 6 months and she has learned more in the last 5 months than all the years before. She is almost completely normal by outside appearances. She keeps her mind locked but takes in and remembers everything. She changes the key frequently. You just have to figure out the Key of the day or the moment. If you read her the grocery list before going to the store, she will remind you of whats not in the cart at the checkout, a walking, talking palm pilot.  She fills our world with love, lots of hugs, laughter, adventure and challenges everyday.
She is the reason I found Flickr. She loves to look at the pictures, and she learns the words for EVERYTHING around the world. She is also the reason I don’t get to respond or comment sometimes. Be assured WE look at and enjoy Every picture. But she gets WAY impatient when I try to leave a comment. ( When she is in learning mode we must keep things moving.) Sometimes I am too tired to come back after she is in bed.
She fills our hearts and challenges our minds..
When God closes one door he opens another somewhere.
She is my Beautiful Magical Granddaughter

My new hobby: painting a scene from a make believe cel-animated cartoon.

The colors really got screwed up on this photo! yikes...

This looks a lot nicer at large or full size (the previous image in my photostream is a zoomed-in detail). The technique for making comics of your images can be found here and is discussed in this thread. The halftone pattern is kind of a no-brainer, but the horizontal hashing is brilliant. I wish I'd thought of it.
