Cartoonists like to debate

What better way to learn about your craft than to have heated discussions about how you think comics should be made, and how to approach the business side of cartooning. Independent cartoonists make art that appeals to them, and then try to find readers who like their stuff enough to pay hard cash for it. This is a hard sell, because while it takes a lot of time and energy to make a good comic, it takes little time and effort to read one. And the better a cartoonist is at it, the less it seems to the unaware reader that the cartoonist put his or her guts into it. It's all about a good reader experience, and delivering that experience with a certain degree of consistency, so people come back to read more.

Time to get serious about having fun, and talk about it passionately with your peers!
