Levi-Strauss, RIP, said that myth takes the form of a Klein bottle. Lacan says that the human psyche, or self, has the structure of a mobius strip (and probably a Klien Bottle too), which is pretty much the same thing.

I read Levi-Strauss and Lacan to make sense of Japanese mythology. I failed to make much sense of Lacan and disagreed with important parts about what I read of Levi-Strauss, but they made a big impression upon me. Of course I failed to make that much sense out of Japanese mythology too. It seems to me now that the theories of Levi-Strauss and Lacan can be applied far more effectively to the mythology of modern Japanese children's cartoons (anime) than to the ancient mythology.

The transformation "Engine Soul" that Ray is holding in the photo above, allows superheroes to transform from their human to super form, and perhaps in a parallel plane is inserted into the vehicles that combine to form the super sentai.

I feel sure that there is a Klein bottle in there somewhere. Something is twisting and wrapping back upon itself.

I am not sure about all this, but thinking Lacano-Levi-Strassianly.

The cars (shown in front of Ray above) exist, as speaking, anthropomorphic characters in another dimension.

The cars are seperate from and yet deeply connected with their human counterparts in the team of superheroes that are similarly colour coded.

The cars may not have the same gender as the superhero with which they are linked.

The cars have a lot in common with Pika-chu, Doraemon, the Death God in "Death Note" and the other world versions of the school-girls in Sailor Moon. They are a familiar.

The human Go-Onger superhero team can in their pre-super-human form, communicate with the cars via special mobile phone (with 3d holographic capability.) It is these same mobile phones that allow the untransformed heros to transform/henshin into their super form.

The Engine Soul, that Ray is holding, is a small talking box, a sign or symbol (and has affinity with the cards, seals, tatoos, rings, speaking-megaphones in other transformation "myths"). They examples of "object a" or a "point de caption"?

The Engine Soul is a representative for the cars, and it might be said that the cars exist as Engine Souls in the human world.

The Superheroes-as-normal-humans, slot the engine souls into their mobile phones in order to transform into their super form.

The superheroes transform to become in a sense human-car-hybrids, being possessed of the power of the cars in the other world. In their super human form they look even more like the cars. Their helmets have similar features and wheels at either sides of their heads.

Thus, in a sense, transformation/henshin is already a form of combination/gattai, since humans take on a super-suited, and masked, car-like form.

Once transformed into their superform, the superheroes combine (gattai合体) to become a super warrior. To do this they somehow get inside the cars, which then link together.

In this combined form at least, the cars exist in the world of humans. The humans get inside the giant cars, driving them, even as they have their "engine souls" inside (the belts of the humans), which are themselves the avatar of the cars which the humans are driving.

This engine sould inside merged-superhero inside car inside merged super warrior, is the bookstrapped feedbacking has the mobius strippy Klien bottle structure.

This "gattai" scene really gets the viewers going. It is the perhaps biggest twist in the mobius strip.

The "combination/gattai" scence is perhaps the "transformation/hensin" scene in the "imaginary".

Anyway, the of Go-Onger and other super sentai warriors, with its mulitple dimensions, three teired cicrular nesting, symbols and imagos, has Lacan, Mobius Strip, Levi Strauss and Structuralism written all over it.

I have been ignoring the structure of the myth. I am not at all sure about it yet.

The as yet non-super super-heroes, in their human form are having a good time.
Various monsters arrive in the world.
Some (but not all) of the human super heroes transform into their super form and do battle with the monsters. The battles are usually inconclusive.
The monsters come back more powerfully, and the superheroes must unite as a team.
In the final show down, all members of the team (often 5) are present, and they all transform into their super human suits (which are a sort of human car hybrid)
Then in order to beat the monster that they are fighting the superheros combine.
The cars arrrive and combine and beat the monster which is also in a giant form.

...or in english for those suffering loquatiousnesslessness, lol. , a swan having landed, slows to a stop from the friction that even water brings to bear. Its the post climax comedown. The smooth cigarette after the bonk. lol

Though I like to think that underwater, his feet are stretched forward like a cartoon character braking hard on his heels.

Actually I hate pretentious photo titles. Usually just an effort to make the ordinary extraordinary, and it makes bugger all difference truth be told. This photo might as well be called "swan -a bit wet". If someone doesn't know what they are looking at and you have to give it a title to explain it, then at best its shallow wordplay, at average your probably wasting your time cos they won't get it anyway, or are sacrificing their own perception to see yours, which is only necessary at best for the tiniest of possible periods, since individuality in perception is better self-earned and all images are supposed to mean different things to different people with the possible exception of the avatar of all humanity you see on toilet doors. (Even then a hermaphrodite sees a choice according to the dress code of the day and the likelihood of a free cubicle. ) . At worst its just a crap photo begging for adulation . Don't know why people feel compelled to do it myself.

Whatever happened to that thing about a picture saying a thousand words? One can be a visual artist or photographer quite naturally without trying to sound artistic.Thats about pleasing critics, trying to appear cool. Cool is fear, and fear is failure. Rarely is it identity.

Fear only that which rips a hole in your butt if you don't run like hell.

Not a swan named for a sheep.

Now before I disappear up my own arse through irony i'm off to bed with the vague thought that the point I was trying to prove is that all of the unreal is a philosophy of ever widening circles with its only limit the amount of bullshit one is willing to believe, and how that basically describes most modern art......

You can feed caviar to pigs and pigshit to sturgeons too.
